It’s big and in one of the most well-travelled areas of cottage country.
Visitors north this summer will see a huge new billboard sign just south of Webbers along Highway 11.
This morning Country 102 unveiled its new partnership with Country Artist David Boyd Janes.
It’s located off the Southbound lanes but facing Northbound traffic and promotes both the radio station and Boyd Janes’ along with his current single ‘On Tonight’.
“I spend a lot of time up here,” says the singer/songwriter. “When I’m not on the road doing music, I spend a lot of time in the Muskoka area doing fishing and mainly just being outside and trying to be away from all the craziness – with the whole Covid thing going on, I just felt it was a safe area for me to be spending my time. For the last several months (I’ve been) working on music and doing a lot of fishing – not going to lie.”
The rising country star says he spends a lot of time driving Hwy 11 and during this time while it’s hard to do shows and public appearances, he saw there was a lot of billboard spots in the area that were empty.
“With the partnership of Country 102 playing my music on the station everything just made sense,” he says. “And also it’s somewhat nostalgiac that Boots and Hearts is only a few minutes down the road and that’s really what made a huge change in my career last year after I won the Emerging Artist Contest.”
Boots and Hearts have already seen the sign and messaged him to say ‘hey, it’s great you are within a stones throw from the festival’.
The plan moving forward is also to highlight Boyd Janes’ new singles on the sign as he releases them. Each will be promoted in the area of the billboard where the current one is situated for single ‘On Tonight’ which is in heavy on-air rotation.
