Newly-elected Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole says Canada needs a fighter.
In his first news conference as Conservative leader, O’Toole says he’s here to fight for Canadians and their families.
He says they are losing hope and millions are barely getting by.
O’Toole says he understands the challenges of the middle class and their concerns around tuition, family vacations and the anxiousness surrounding the return to school.
O’Toole says Justin Trudeau may be trying to trigger a new election and if so, he will be ready.
“And he’s used the crisis as an excuse to help his friends yet again,” said O’Toole. “It’s time to stop catering to insiders and special interests. It’s time to put working Canadians first.”
O’Toole adds that he loves Canada and is worried about the course it’s on, including the factor of western political alienation, which he says is a threat to Canadian unity.
As a potential future Prime Minister, O’Toole says he’d back programs that make it easier for people to get ahead.
He says Canada can be rebuilt while protecting Canadians from the ongoing threat of Covid-19.
It’s time to grow our team. Are you with me?
