Canada’s Covid-19 vaccine roll-out plan will be led by former NATO commander Major General Dany Fortin.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says Fortin will head a national operations centre in coordination with the armed forces to plan and distribute vaccines when they arrive.
“Major General Dany Fortin will be heading up the logistics and operations within the centre,” said Trudeau. “Major General Fortin is a seasoned officer, the Chief of Staff of Canadian Joint Operations Command and served as Commander of the NATO mission in Iraq.”
Meantime, Trudeau said doctors highlighted the majority of Canadians should be able to be vaccinated by September 2021, if all goes according to plan.
Canada will obtain millions of vaccine doses early next year with doses for all Canadians being distributed during the course of the year.
In the meantime, before a vaccine arrives, Trudeau says people will have to be there for each other by keeping distances between each other.
