Community generosity and compassion top the list of positive 2020 impressions for Bracebridge Mayor Graydon Smith.
He says it was really touching to see residents join together to help others in the community get things like food and supplies in the early days of the pandemic.
He’s also noticed the uptick in donations for the local Sally Ann, Manna Food Bank and South Muskoka Hospital Foundation, which shows the community is caring.
“You know people see a problem and they step up and try and help and that’s what this community has been about and will always be about,” says the Mayor.
Smith says there is light at the end of the tunnel now heading into 2021 with the arrival of vaccines.
He says while 2020 was a year of struggle, it will be remembered for its local stories of compassion and resilience.
