From now into the Fall the Huntsville Firefighters Association wants your scrap metal.
Huntsville/Lake of Bays Firefighter Shawn Dickey says it’s the fourth year they’ve undertaken the initiative, which helps buy needed equipment for the Huntsville Fire Department.
Dickey says this year ACES Waste Management has even offered the recyling bin and its transportation for free to help out.
“The Association gets the proceeds from the recycling which is good for the community because it buys things like new gear,” says Dickey. “We’ve bought thermal imaging cameras with it one year – we’re buying rescue rope with it – we’ve bought some of that already. It goes back into actually helping the community.”
Dickey says you can drop your metal off in the bin at 1 Payne Drive in Huntsville where the fire hall is located right now.
Old BBQs and other scrap metal items are ideal – just don’t drop any garbage off in the bin as that costs the department money to get rid of.
