A couple of wandering bears have caused a bit of a scare in Orillia.
A mama bear and her cub climbed up a tree near Park Street this afternoon, prompting police to put four local schools in Hold and Secure as a precaution.
However, students from Orchard Park Public School, Orillia Secondary School, Lions Oval Public School, and Samuel-De-Champlain were allowed to go home at the end of the classes for the day.
Police said representatives with the Ministry of Natural Resources arrived on scene to safely retrieve and relocate the bears, which do travel at this time of year, searching for food before going into hibernation.
