Canada will send more war equipment to help Ukrainians in their battle against Russia.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made the announcement today.
“Today we are announcing that we will be supplying Ukraine with anti-tank weapons systems and upgraded ammunition,” he said. “Of course, this is in addition to our three previous shipments of lethal and non-lethal equipment.”
Trudeau also says the country is fast-tracking immigration applications for Ukrainians who want to come to Canada.
The PM says he’s discussed elements of the country’s response with other members of the G7.
Canadian financial intuitions are barred from any transactions with the Russian Central Bank and a ban is in place here on all imports of crude oil from Russia too.
Trudeau says Russian President Putin has made a grave miscalculation and that this unnecessary war must stop now.
In the House of Commons today, Members of Parliament unanimously condemned Russia’s unjustified and unprovoked attack on Ukraine. We, as Parliamentarians and as Canadians, stand unwavering and united in our solidarity with the people of Ukraine.
