Business owners in Muskoka can listen and learn from their peers’ experiences, challenges, and successes, thanks to a new video podcast series.
Parry Sound Muskoka Community Network (PMCN) has launched a new podcast Building Business in Muskoka Small Communities Big IMPACT.
The intention of the podcast is to raise awareness of the many and varied businesses in the community. Even those who don’t own
businesses will find it interesting.
The podcast is a collection of interviews with business leaders about everything from adapting to COVID to staffing shortages.
PMCN is looking to interview more business leaders from across the community to showcase the diverse business ecosystem.
The cross-section of businesses featured allows listeners to see the challenges from different perspectives.
It’s also a celebration of those who enjoy living in Muskoka while operating a successful business.
“This project seeks to illuminate the real stories of Muskoka businesses and how they have overcome supply shortages, staffing shortages, lockdowns on top of the usual busy summers and slow winters,” says Stuart Morley, executive director of PMCN. “By using the long format video podcast, the audience can get an in-depth understanding of what it takes to be successful as a business owner in a small community. We hope to share the side of the story that the broader Muskoka community seldom hears. Each podcast in the series is much more than the occasional sound bite about the challenges businesses face.”
Morley and local entrepreneur Sarah Haefling interview the guests.
You can find the first six interviews at https://www.pmcn.ca/podcasts
Topics include: Founding a Luxury Rental Business in Muskoka with Jayne McCaw; The Unconventional Entrepreneur & Author with John Little; and Building a Brewery as a Young Craft Beer Pioneer in Muskoka with Darren Smith.
