Bracebridge Fire and Muskoka Paramedic Services will be canvassing neighborhoods in the urban areas of Bracebridge on Monday, November 28th from 6 to 9 pm to collect non-perishable food items in support of the Salvation Army South Muskoka food bank.
Residents interested in participating are asked to place donations on their front porch by 6 pm and ensure their porch light is on for awareness and safety. Food donations can also be dropped off at the Salvation Army Bracebridge Community Church at 456 Manitoba Street.
The Salvation Army South Muskoka assists individuals and families throughout the year through initiatives like the Christmas hamper program, food and toy drives, and the annual kettle campaign.
“The Bracebridge Fire Department is excited to partner with the Muskoka Paramedic Services and Salvation Army South Muskoka again this year for the food drive and are looking forward to going back to our door-to-door collection format. There are many people in the community who rely on food banks throughout the year and extra help during the holidays. We encourage residents of Bracebridge to give what they can to ensure that all members of our community have a happy holiday season.” – Murray Medley, Fire Chief, Town of Bracebridge
“As we head into the holiday season and enjoy the magic of it all, it’s important to recognize that this is a stressful time for many in the community. I encourage everyone who is able to do so to participate in this food drive to help support those in need. Thank you to Bracebridge Fire and Muskoka Paramedic Services for organizing this initiative and being champions for community support and safety, and to Salvation Army South Muskoka for your ongoing support for Bracebridge.” – Rick Maloney, Mayor, Town of Bracebridge
During the holiday season, pressures for a person or family in need increase and community support is needed. Families that struggle to put food on the table are challenged to find additional funds from their budgeted needs to provide a special meal or gifts for family and friends. With the increase in the cost of living and inflation, more individuals and families are turning to food banks for much-needed relief, some for the first time.
Volunteers Needed
Community volunteers are needed to assist in sorting the collected food at the Salvation Army Bracebridge Community Church. To volunteer, please call 705-645-2602.

Thank you in advance and have a safe, healthy holiday season.” – Jeff McWilliam, Chief, Paramedic Services and Emergency Management, District of Muskoka
