An Unforgettable Literary Evening with Author, Amanda LeDuc
Bracebridge Library, Salmon Avenue, Bracebridge, ON, Canada
Join members of Muskoka Authors Association on Thursday, April 10 for an unforgettable literary evening with author, Amanda Leduc! Step into a world of wonder, imagination, and magic realism as acclaimed author Amanda Leduc shares her latest novel—a spellbinding tale where the line between human and animal dissolves. Leduc's story follows two walking, talking hyenas as they interact with humans over decades, acting as strange messengers of change. When a young boy in 19th-century Scotland is exiled for seeing the divine in animals, he embarks on an extraordinary journey that leads to a new faith—one where animals begin to speak, and humanity must reckon with the wildness it has long denied. This captivating novel is both joyful and devastating, inviting readers to rethink what it means to be human. Amanda Leduc, who holds a Master's degree in Creative Writing from the University of St. Andrews, is a celebrated disabled writer, author of The Centaur's Wife and Disfigured: On Fairy Tales, Disability, and Making Space (nominated for the 2020 Governor General's Award). Her work explores LGBTQ+ themes, disability, and the power of storytelling. She has cerebral palsy and speaks widely on accessibility and the role of disability in literature and lives in Hamilton with her lovable dog, Sitka, who once ate and peed on a manuscript. (Everyone's a critic, it seems.).. PLEASE NOTE New Location for this meeting: Bracebridge Public Library, located at the Muskoka Lumber Community Centre, 24 Salmon Avenue, Bracebridge.
