An ice storm is forecasted for the weekend that will bring prolonged periods of freezing rain to the region.
Ice buildup could cause widespread power outages and slippery road conditions.
With up to 25mm of freezing rain in the forecast, there may also be localized flooding.
The heaviest rainfall is expected today, according to Environment Canada, which warns that the freezing rain may last into Sunday afternoon.
