Oh sports… I miss you. A lot. Like seriously, a lot.
You may be coping with no sports more than I have been( If yes, please teach me your ways) but if you miss watching sports like I do, or even if you don’t, I found some GREAT links to watch some of the most iconic matches/moments in Canadian sports history.
The best part about them… YOU CAN WATCH FOR FREE!!!
1: 2010 Winter Olympics Men’s Hockey Gold Medal Game – Canada vs USA – February 28th, 2010
Not much explaining needed for this one. Arguably the greatest hockey moment since Paul Henderson’s goal from the ’72 summit series… Such a special game for us Canadians. Click this link to relive the glory
2: 2014 Winter Olympics Women’s Hockey Gold Medal Game – Canada vs USA – February 20th, 2014
I will gladly argue that this is the greatest game of women’s hockey ever. EVER! The tension, the passion, the excitement, and of course… the comeback! Down 2 goals late in the 3rd period, Team Canada clawed their way back to tie. The intensity was at an all time high during overtime. Marie-Phillip Poulin played the part of Sidney Crosby scoring the golden goal for Canada!

3: 1993 World Series Game 6 – Toronto Blue Jays vs Philadelphia Phillies – October 23rd, 1993
The late Tom Cheek said it best. “TOUCH ‘EM ALL JOE! YOU’LL NEVER HIT A BIGGER HOME RUN IN YOUR LIFE!” Joe Carter’s home run in the bottom of the 9th inning brought the World Series back to Canada for a 2nd straight year and the Toronto Blue Jays were the talk of the baseball world.

4: 2015 ALDS Game 5 – Toronto Blue Jays vs Texas Rangers – October 14th, 2015
Joe Carter’s home run to win the World Series for the Blue Jays was the last time the team would see any time in the playoffs for 22 years… Being born a couple years after the ’93 Championship, I was raised to believe that the Blue Jays in the playoffs was folklore… an urban legend…a fantasy… That changed in 2015 when the Jays won their division and went back to the playoffs. After losing the first 2 games to the Rangers, the Jays fought back to tie the series up, and then game 5 happened. Jose Bautista flipped the bat and gave us a moment for the ages!

5: 2019 NBA Playoffs Round 2 Game 7 – Toronto Raptors vs Philadelphia 76ers – May 12th, 2019
Kawhi Leonard… Wow. Was he a Raptor for only 1 year? Yes. Was it the greatest year in Raptors history? YES! The 2019 Raptors playoff run was magical. The entire run. Ending in the Raptors becoming NBA CHAMPIONS, every game was so much fun to watch(even the games they lost). I was nervous that they would lose Game 7 vs the sixers too… Kawhi said “no need to worry, I got this…” The buzzer beater heard round the world!
