After several hearings and court dates, the trial for Linda O’Leary is due to begin today in Parry Sound.

The wife of Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary has been charged with careless operation of a vessel in connection with a fatal boat crash on Lake Joseph in August 2019.

It claimed the lives of 64-year-old Gary Poltash from Florida and 48 year-old Suzana Brito from Uxbridge, while three others were injured.

Brito’s parents have since filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Kevin and Linda O’​Leary, seeking $2 million in damages, while the O’Leary have reported filed their own lawsuit claiming more than $3 million in damages against Irv Edwards, the owner of the other boat involved in the crash, and the operator of the other boat involved.

Dr. Richard Ruh from New York was also charged with failing to exhibit a navigation light while underway in the crash. He was found guilty and paid $180 fine last September, but did not admit guilt.

If found guilty, O’Leary faces a 10-thousand dollar fine.
