Indoor visits to loved ones in Long Term Care (LTC) Homes can resume July 22nd for two Covid-19-free visitors at a time.
This means recent tests for Covid-19 will remain a requirement for indoor visits.
Up to two people at a time can also visit a loved one without a test outdoors starting immediately.
Premier Doug Ford made the announcement today saying the vast majority of homes have stabilised.
On top of this, he says significant investment is needed in the LTC Home sector.
To that end, he announced that 30,000 new LTC beds are to become a reality over the next 10 years.
The Province pledges $1.75 billion to kickstart it.
“We’re building new beds and we’re upgrading existing ones,” said Ford. “We’re redeveloping homes to modern design standards.”
Ford says working air conditioners and redeveloped beds complete the pledge.
The work will happen in each corner of the province.
When it comes to long-term care homes, it can’t be business as usual. We need action now.
