From Oakland, Ontario, Maddy McKenzie has big dreams. She grew up spending time on stage as a competitive dancer, developing a love for being in front of an audience. With a musician father, she also developed an early understanding of good song writing, spanning multiple genres. It was in her teens though, that she fell for country music – being influenced by Carrie Underwood, the women now known as The Chicks, Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift.
Maddy is currently studying in her third year at Western University, where she’s the first student at the school to study Nursing while living with macular dystrophy, a low vision condition that impacts her daily life, but doesn’t slow her down on the path to her dreams.
With a smooth voice that will have you dreaming too – here’s Maddy McKenzie with her original song, Dreamer:
